Founded in January 2025, PEWA seeks to unite all workers in public education institutions, from primary, secondary and tertiary levels, including prisons and adult education services, regardless of role or position, whether teachers, SLSOs, cleaners, SASS staff or other administration workers; with the express aim of increasing worker collective power. We aim for the development of public education, led by an organised and united workforce, as a key pillar to transforming contemporary society into a free, participatory society premised on social power, security and community.
PEWA also seeks to unify a with working class people across all sectors with a specific interest in uniting with workers in the so-called “care economy”. History teaches us the amazing capabilities of workers who get organised, PEWA aims to contribute to that endeavour.
Our constitution shares how we organise and our plans.
